America is in a bind. Taxing the rich is a very hard issue. 1. Rich people and organizations give politicians a lot of money 2. Raising taxes on a big business or rich people in one area means they flee to an area with lower taxation. And with so many states... and if that fails they just move to the bahama islands or Monaco. Most big business have their head offices in a country which is very kind of taxation. Some like apple PAY NO TAX AT ALL! 3. Isn't it in the American design to allow people to get super rich and see that as something to aspire too? 4. While we are at all, taxation on different levels has its own issues. From city taxes, state taxes to federal taxes. And how they are used is a whole different ball game. In short, can America actually rethink their system? And is america willing? Or are those in power going to disregard any potential plans as usual not to snub their golf buddies?

Yeah, there are many layers to this. My father came to the continent as a US National from the Philippines (a possession of the US). So he did not “immigrate” here, he simply moved here as a farm laborer in the late 20’s. His brother’s fought in WWII as he grew food for the troops. In the 70’s someone called him a “Jap” which pissed him off as he fought as an American and was filipino. Meanwhile at that same time he worked for a Japanese-American farm owner whose family was interred during the war. But the locals continued to maintain the farm until they returned from the internment camp. We are all Americans.

Education, no matter who provides it is key. Keep teaching us with facts plus testimonies. I grew up in the 60's and racism was quite blatant then. I was desensitized to it, however, I never partook of the racism all around me. I just knew it was wrong but wasn't strong enough to stand up to it. (I am white) Later on I self educated and was shocked at how little history (all history) I really knew.

Maybe it's because of living all my seventy four years here on the west coast, but in school and at home and the community we lived in we learned about the rich history of Asian Americans. As well as how thousands of years ago Alaska was connected via the Beringia land bridge to eastern Russia that was/is highly Asian. Thus Asians have a longer history of being connected (pun intended) to the USA than Europeans. What saddens me is how many Americans think Chinese when they hear the word Asian, when it included various Asian countries, whose histories have enriched all of humanity. Also saddens me how slow film, tv have been in hiring Asian actors. Or print/news media where one rarely sees an Asian name connected to reporting news.

Thus they were basically slaves. The fact remains white males with power regardless of political party, have since the 1700's created the rules/laws that were designed to restrict women, and people of colour from succeeding.
